relative to how long they’ve had their driver’s license?

Rules are:

Must have been titled in your name. So the car you drive in high school but technically belonged to your parents doesn’t count but your wife’s car does (so long as your name appears on the title.)

List the cars you’ve owned, then divide the total number of cars by the number of years you’ve been driving. had your license. highest number wins. bonus points to the most interesting automotive history.

I’ll start.

1972 Chevrolet Nova 2 door

1989 Mercury Sable LS wagon

1977 Pontiac Trans Am

1987 Dodge Shadow

1994 Dodge Shadow ES

1987 Plymouth Reliant LE

1984 Chevrolet S10 4x4

1985 Chevrolet S10 4x4

1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu

1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited

1997 Jeep grand Cherokee limited

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited

2005 Dodge Magnum RT AWD

1997 Dodge Dakota Sport

2002 Volkswagen GTI 1.8

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport

1990 Jeep Wrangler

1997 Jeep Cherokee

1995 Jeep Wrangler

2008 Toyota Highlander LE

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 TRX4

2011 Dodge Charger RT

2011 Dodge Durango Citadel

1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee TSi

2016 Ram 1500 Rebel

So 26 cars in 23 years nets a ratio of 1.13.

Not included are 2 cars I owned but never titled before selling, nor are the 10 cars my wife has had in the 7 years i’ve known her.

1 in 6. Or 1 in 5 if permits don’t count. So 0.167 or 0.2 respectively.

Going on 0.143, 0.125, 0.111, 0.1

...Maybe. I have no plans.

1986 Peugeot 205 base ( current )

1987 Peugeot 205 CTi with 2.0 turbo swap ( current )

1979 Porsche 924

1950 Ford F3 (never registered)

1949 Ford F2 (no title, but I do own it) (not registered)

2005 Ford Escape (wife’s)

I’ve been driving 11 years.

Cars fully owned and registered: 4, ratio 0.364

Total cars: 7, ratio 0.636

If we can count motorcycles as well.

1982 Yamaha XJ750

1978 Yamaha XS750

2008 HD Sportster 883

Respective ratios: 0.636/1.0

Then there’s the two dirt bikes that haven’t been titled (still have one) and the three wheeler.

Looking at the vehicles that I have personally owned (everything but the wife’s car) I’ve had just as many non registered vehicles as I have registered ones.

36/16=2.25

The “must be titled in your name” stipulation cut my list in half. I’ve had a lot more that were project cars or parts cars that I’ve kept for a while but never got around to titling because I didn’t *need* to drive the car, and those trips to the DMV get expensive.

It’a ‘49 I believe, originally came with a flatbed or stake bed, 8'. Flathead I6, and the heavy duty 4 speed. I bought it as a parts truck for my ‘50 F3. Even though the F2 is technically rarer than the F3, the F3 came with the pickup box, which as far as I can tell is fairly uncommon.

I really wish these didn’t have to sit where they are but I have no room to put them anywhere and dad has been putting off building a shop for a while now. Some day though...some day...

A long time ago they asked if there were any other licensed drivers in the house besides myself and my wife. They have since figured out we’re gearheads.

There are usually 6 or 7 vehicles registered and insured at any given time between myself and my wife.

Here’s a pic from last week when I took my wife’s Lexus to Watkins Glen for a track day.

The truck is amazing. The Hemi and 8 speed trans are perfect. Always in the power band no matter what gear. Effortlessly pulls my 7000# trailer. Love the air suspension. And the front end styling. The exhaust gives just the right rumble without being obnoxious. The truck’s got a great combination of luxury and aggressiveness.
